Dear Afterthought System Users and Customers,
My name is Johnny with Afterthought System, and this morning I was appointed the Interim Lead Developer position for Afterthought System, LLC. Our CEO and Lead Developer, Dracut Dussault is currently on a Leave of Absence due to some in-real time events he is dealing with. As of 8/11/2020, I, Johnny have operational authority to do as he sees best for Afterthought System, LLC. With that being said, I have a few unfortunate announcements regarding Afterthought System 2.0, a new system we planned to release originally August 1st, and postponed to September 1st.
Afterthought System has been serving the roleplay community for about a year now, we have been editing the system to implement suggestions and feedback given from our proud and supportive customers and users. Drake and I both decided that Afterthought System needed a complete redesign of the database structure and user interface to make it best for our users to experience. This announcement was made on April 22nd, 2020.
To add, our development team is currently comprised of Drake and I, but Afterthought System, LLC is currently not at the point where it can be our full-time jobs. With that being said, the development time has not been at the speed we thought we would have been at. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected not only our development team, but also the Afterthought System team as a whole. This caused major setbacks in the development of the system.
With that being said, I regret to announce that release of Afterthought System 2.0 is suspended for the foreseeable future. The reason we are doing this to relieve the pressure on our development team with deadlines, we will be continuously working on the system and updating community owners and users via email newsletters and this blog site. Please make sure to keep an eye out! This announcement isn’t a disappointment and doesn’t mean that we will never release this new system, the purpose of this announcement is to allow our development team to make the best effort and redesign the user interface along with the user experience of the system to the best level possible.
This also means that we are open to suggestions to make this system the best it can be, so please email [email protected] with your suggestions, so we can add them to our list of things to do!
In addition to this announcement regarding Afterthought System 2.0, we unfortunately have some bad news to come along with it. Afterthought System, LLC has been facing a sight budget deficit due to the COVID-19 pandemic and operating costs. The internal team is currently working on modifying our monthly operating costs and the budget. This should not affect the performance of the system much, but if we see any changes we will revert. During the modification of our budget, we may also need to cut down on some support channels we currently offer, such as live chat, and Twitter DM support. We will provide more details of what will exactly be affected in the future; however, I anticipate that not much would change for you, the users and customers.
