Re: Major Infrastructure Outage

Dear Afterthought System Customers & Users,

On July 16th, 2020 at approximately 2:20 PM PDT our developers noticed a system outage on our website, following that we noticed that there was an active outage with Discord, Bubble.io, our hosting provider, and Crisp Chat, which hosts our live chat and status page.

Our team immediately sent our a Tweet at 2:27 PM PDT stating:

“Our systems are currently offline. Our website and live chat service. It looks like a DNS issue we are working to get it back online. It seems that @CloudflareHelp just went down. We will update on Twitter. For urgent inquires email [email protected]


We continued to update the Tweet as we got more information regarding what the issue was that caused our system and our third-party network to go offline. In addition to our Tweets, we also sent an email to our customers updating them on the situation.

With further investigation, it was noted that there was a Cloudflare system wide failure causing the majority of Afterthought System’s infrastructure to go offline. This scale of an outage caused not only our systems to go offline, but also caused many major company’s site to go down. There was not much we could do besides wait and update our customers and users.

After the situation was resolved, we did follow up with our customers with an email explaining the issue. This release is to inform the public and our users of what happened.
